My own team is referred to as the "IB's" or, Insubordinate Bastards. This shirt was originally designed for them. Their moniker is a cherished part of our culture. Not because of arrogance or true insubordination, but because they are proud of their internal bond as a group.
Everyone knows who the Boss is. Obviously everyone knows who the Lt is, who the Sgt's are and who the salty Senior Divers are. But within the group - and by design, rank has been put aside. Everyone has a voice. Everyone has ownership of what is going on. Even though at the end of the day, a GO / NO-GO decision will fall on the shoulders of the Commander, the team knows they have the voice and trust to say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done - So everyone goes home safe at the end of a successful op.
